Veterinary Acupuncture

At Pajaro Valley Veterinary Hospital, we’re proud to offer acupuncture for dogs and cats. Acupuncture is a gentle, time-tested therapy that can help pets feel and move better.

Your pet’s treatment is guided by Dr. McKay, a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (CVA), and can be paired with Chinese herbal medicine for a well-rounded approach to care.

How Acupuncture Can Help

Acupuncture can support pets dealing with a wide range of health concerns, including:

  • Arthritis and joint pain

  • Chronic pain

  • Mobility issues

  • Recovery after surgery

  • Digestive and gut issues

  • And many other medical conditions

Every pet is different. That’s why Dr. McKay starts with a thorough exam to choose the treatment that best fits your pet’s needs.

Meet Dr. McKay, CVA

Dr. McKay is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist with specialized training in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine. He combines this training with his veterinary experience to create treatment plans that support your pet’s comfort and overall well-being.

What to Expect

Initial Consultation: Every acupuncture patient begins with a consultation and exam with Dr. McKay. He’ll review your pet’s health history, assess their condition, and recommend the best course of treatment.

Treatment Sessions: Most sessions last about 30 minutes or longer, depending on your pet’s treatment.

Your Pet’s Treatment Plan: The number of sessions varies from pet to pet. Dr. McKay will discuss a recommended plan with you so you know what to expect.
